It doesn't happen very often that someone can resist Michal Prokop's pedal power. But during yesterdays 4X finals in the rainy beauty of the Swiss Alps Brian Lopes simply provided the better package. On a course which started with a mountain bike layout and ended in a parking lot the World Cup Champion of 2005 managed to stay in front of the Czech rocket all the way through the finish line. After his second place at World Cup No. 1 in Vigo, Spain this victory also puts Lopes at the top spot in the overall ranking.
While Prokop's defeat had a touch of a surprise, altough Lopes had been fastest on the course from the first timed session on, Jill Kintner's (USA) triumph just put her back to the top where she used to be. This win also gave her the overall lead in the World Cup after Dutch rival Anneke Beerten won the small final and finished in 5th place.
This video is just a short summary of the 4X finals. The full version as well as more intervews will follow next week. Enjoy!
